Mr. Tomlin was involved in the furniture business as a sales manager for many years. Some companies in which he was employed included: Imperial Furniture Company, Carolina Wholesale Furniture Company, and later as a manufacturers agent. In 1948, he purchased the Burlington Mill Village which contained 74 acres and 54 dwellings. He was chairman of the Finance Committee at Iredell Memorial Hospital in 1955. His father Charles Tomlin was one of the orgainizers of Ramsey-Tomlin-Bowles, predecessor to Ramsey-Bowles.
